DRDO’s main goal is to enhance, support, and elevate the living conditions of at-risk Somali populations, primarily in southern Somalia regions, through the provision of humanitarian aid to meet their essential livelihood requirements. These include:

• Enhance health initiatives by conducting Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and outreach activities and combat malnutrition in children aged 6 to 59 months by establishing Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) centers.
• Preserve water resources and promote hygiene by enhancing water quality, accessibility, and reducing waterborne diseases caused by poor sanitation practices. Implement sustainable and cost-effective Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) interventions in rural and urban areas.
• Advance the education sector by providing both formal and informal education at educational facilities to reduce poverty, illiteracy, disease, and suffering. Enhance access to quality education for individuals in targeted regions, including Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from affected areas, through teacher training and resource provision.
• Support agricultural and livestock production by promoting sustainable technologies to ensure fair distribution of resources to agro-pastoralists and small-scale farmers, leading to improved food security and decreased reliance on food aid in Somalia.
• Strengthen livelihood resilience for sustainable development by encouraging community-based natural resource management and diversified livelihoods to enhance long-term community resilience. Generate profitable employment opportunities to achieve economic independence and self-reliance through income-generating activities.
• Rehabilitate and construct public infrastructure such as shallow wells, boreholes, schools, health centers, and airstrips using a participatory approach.
• Respond to displacement-related emergencies swiftly.
• Coordinate with International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) and United Nations (UN) agencies to address community needs.
• Enhance protection and rights for vulnerable populations, including IDPs and refugees, and foster peaceful coexistence among Somali communities through advocacy and communal workshops, with a specific focus on youth programming.
• Promote capacity building and community integration in economic empowerment initiatives.
• Deliver high-quality healthcare services in collaboration with healthcare providers and the Global Fund to ensure increased access to public healthcare services for vulnerable households in urban and rural Somalia.
• Create a supportive environment for psycho-social well-being in the community by advocating for good governance, gender equality, empowerment of women and girls, and the elimination of all forms of violence against women, including Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), rape, and domestic violence.
• Cultivate responsible individuals by identifying and nurturing their talents and potential.
• Raise awareness for environmental management and conservation practices.
